Gandhi moved to England in 1888 to study law at the university college England, He studied Indian law at the university and also trained to become a barrister which is one of the two classes of lawyers that can be found in England and other countries. He trained at the inner temple which is a professional association for barrister's. The time Gandhi spent in London was influenced by a promise he made to his mother before leaving India Gandhi tried to adopt English way of life . Some vegetarians Gandhi met were members of the theosophical society a society which was founded in 1875. In June 1891 Gandhi left London to return to India when he arrived in India he had learned that his mother had died while he was in London. Gandhi's efforts at beginning a law practice was unsuccessful because he was too shy to and couldn't speak up in court. In 1893 Gandhi accepted a Year long contract to Dada Abdulla & Company which is an Indian law firm in south africa.
